This maithili song represents seeking of a hopeless, helpless and dejected person who considers Goddess Durga to be the only refuge.  Lyricist of the song is Maithili Putra Pradeep alias Prabhunarayan Jha(1936-2020). Devotee ask for Devi's blessing to sail through hard times. 

जगदंब अहीं अवलंब हमर, 

माय आहां बिनु आस केकर। 

हम भरी जग सं ठुकरायल छी, 

मां अहीं के शरण में आयल छी। 

देखु हम फंसलौं बीच भंवर,

करु माफ जननी अपराध हमर,

काली, लक्ष्मी, कल्याणी छी, 

तारा, अम्बे, ब्रम्हाणी छी। 

अछि पुत्र प्रदीप बनल टुग्गड़, 

हे माए आहां बिनु आस केकर।३। 

Meaning: 

Progenitor of cosmos, you are my only sustenance. O Mother! except you, there is no hope of refuge. 

O Mother!  I have been disapproved by everyone and came to your tutelage. Look! I am trapped in mid of whirlpool. O Mother!  except you, there is no hope of refuge. 

Mother, if you would not pay heed to my miseries then, tell me, whom would I beg? Please fogive my offences, dear progenitor! O Mother! except you, there is no hope of refuge. 

You are Kali(epitome of courage),  Lakshmi(Goddess of opulences),  Kalyani (Goddess of benevolence).  Tara(an epithet of Durga), Ambe(mother of universe),  Brahmaani(Goddess of cosmic power) is you. Your son, Pradeep is became like orphan. O mother!  except you, there is no hope of refuge.
